What we collect. When you use the contact form we collect your name, email address, organisation, phone number if you give it, and your message, together with a hashed form of your IP address for abuse prevention. When you subscribe to the briefing we collect your email address and a hashed IP address. Article read counts use a short-lived hash of your address and browser that cannot be reversed to identify you; no cookies are set for this purpose.

Why. To answer your enquiry (legitimate interest and, where you become a client, contract), to send the briefing you asked for (consent — you confirm by email and can withdraw at any time), and to keep the site secure (legitimate interest).

Retention. Contact enquiries are kept for twenty-four months. Subscriber records are kept until you unsubscribe, after which only the fact of the unsubscribe is retained so we do not email you again. Server logs are kept for fourteen days.

Sharing. Enquiries are stored on servers we control in the United Kingdom. We do not sell or share personal data. If you have chosen Cloudflare Turnstile as the spam check in your browser, Cloudflare processes a token; otherwise the spam check runs entirely on our own server.

Your rights. You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our processing, by emailing hello@cyber-defence.io. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies. This site sets one functional item in your browser's local storage to remember your chosen colour theme, and nothing else unless you explicitly interact with an optional analytics service described on the cookies page.
