But, SNDRV_TIMER_IOCTL_PARAMS isn't protected, hence the\nconcurrent ioctl may lead to use-after-free.\n\nThis patch just adds the guard with register_mutex to protect\nsnd_timer_user_params() for covering the code path as a quick\nworkaround. It's no hot-path but rather a rarely issued ioctl, so the\nperformance penalty doesn't matter.","published":"2026-06-25T09:16:37.000Z","lastModified":"2026-10-19T20:19:08.000Z","status":"Modified","sourceIdentifier":"416baaa9-dc9f-4396-8d5f-8c081fb06d67","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":7.8,"severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"},"cwe":["CWE-416","CWE-362"],"affected":["linux/linux kernel"],"epss":{"score":0.00097,"percentile":0.00718,"date":"2026-10-27","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"high","text":"High impact if exploited, but EPSS currently rates exploitation as unlikely (0.10%).
