When the application enables segmentation (via chan_ops.alloc_buf) and the chosen RX pool has a user_data_size smaller than 2 bytes, the segmentation counter stored in the net_buf user_data area is written out of bounds in l2cap_chan_le_recv_seg (subsys/bluetooth/host/l2cap.c). The observed effects are an AddressSanitizer abort and, without ASan, heap corruption / fatal error.","published":"2026-06-09T08:16:29.000Z","lastModified":"2026-10-15T23:17:38.000Z","status":"Analyzed","sourceIdentifier":"vulnerabilities@zephyrproject.org","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":8.8,"severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H"},"cwe":["CWE-787"],"affected":["zephyrproject/zephyr"],"epss":{"score":0.00452,"percentile":0.38982,"date":"2026-10-26","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"high","text":"High impact if exploited, but EPSS currently rates exploitation as unlikely (0.45%).
