This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The exploit requires two coordinated inputs from the same authenticated attacker: an HTML comment payload stored in a comment body (preserved verbatim by WordPress comment kses) and a matching simple_html_dom noise key placed in the attacker's display_name (which survives esc_attr() intact), with substitution occurring after both filters have run during the plugin's default-on output-buffering pass over the full rendered page.","published":"2026-10-14T08:17:05.000Z","lastModified":"2026-10-14T15:17:07.000Z","status":"Deferred","sourceIdentifier":"security@wordfence.com","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":4.9,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N"},"cwe":["CWE-79"],"affected":[],"epss":{"score":0.00235,"percentile":0.14383,"date":"2026-10-27","history":[{"date":"2026-10-14","score":0.00235,"percentile":0.13401}]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"low","text":"Lower severity and a low EPSS score (0.24%).
