However, DB2 does not support this type of UDT. The FDOCA 0x50 type is never sent by a legitimate DB2 server.\n\n\n\nNevertheless, a malicious or man-in-the-middle DRDA server could craft a response with a 0x50-tagged column, causing the client to deserialize arbitrary attacker-controlled bytes on the Vert.x event loop before any application code can inspect or reject the data. If a Java deserialization gadget chain is present on the application's classpath, this enables remote code execution. Without a gadget chain, denial of service is possible via crafted object graphs. TLS is disabled by default, making man-in-the-middle exploitation feasible.\n\n\n\nThe impacted component is io.vertx:vertx-db2-client.","published":"2026-10-15T09:17:16.000Z","lastModified":"2026-10-20T19:27:39.000Z","status":"Analyzed","sourceIdentifier":"emo@eclipse.org","cvss":{"version":"4.0","score":9.2,"severity":"CRITICAL","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/M"},"cwe":["CWE-502"],"affected":["eclipse/vert.x"],"epss":{"score":0.00458,"percentile":0.39452,"date":"2026-10-26","history":[{"date":"2026-10-15","score":0.00413,"percentile":0.34029}]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"high","text":"High impact if exploited, but EPSS currently rates exploitation as unlikely (0.46%).
