If a user-writable directory is present in the SYSTEM PATH environment variable, the user can write a malicious DLL to that directory with arbitrary code. This malicious DLL is executed in the context of NT AUTHORITY\\SYSTEM upon service start or restart, due to the Windows default dynamic-link library search order, resulting in local elevation of privileges.","published":"2025-07-27T01:15:30.000Z","lastModified":"2026-06-17T10:01:27.000Z","status":"Deferred","sourceIdentifier":"cret@cert.org","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":4.4,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N"},"cwe":[],"affected":[],"epss":{"score":0.00176,"percentile":0.07017,"date":"2026-10-27","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"low","text":"Lower severity and a low EPSS score (0.18%).
