This issue may happen if there is insufficient memory or the memory usage is limited. The problem is caused by the return value `rc,` which is initialized to SSH_ERROR and later rewritten to save the return value of the function call `pki_key_check_hash_compatible.` The value of the variable is not changed between this point and the cryptographic verification. Therefore any error between them calls `goto error` returning SSH_OK.","published":"2023-05-26T18:15:14.000Z","lastModified":"2026-06-17T05:52:11.000Z","status":"Modified","sourceIdentifier":"secalert@redhat.com","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":6.5,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N"},"cwe":["CWE-287"],"affected":["libssh/libssh","fedoraproject/fedora","redhat/enterprise linux"],"epss":{"score":0.01061,"percentile":0.64346,"date":"2026-10-26","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"low","text":"Lower severity and a low EPSS score (1.06%).
