If the Wake-up on Wireless LAN functionality is configured, a malicious event frame can be constructed to trigger an heap buffer overflow in the brcmf_wowl_nd_results function. This vulnerability can be exploited with compromised chipsets to compromise the host, or when used in combination with CVE-2019-9503, can be used remotely. In the worst case scenario, by sending specially-crafted WiFi packets, a remote, unauthenticated attacker may be able to execute arbitrary code on a vulnerable system. More typically, this vulnerability will result in denial-of-service conditions.","published":"2020-01-16T21:15:12.000Z","lastModified":"2026-06-17T02:43:50.000Z","status":"Modified","sourceIdentifier":"cret@cert.org","cvss":{"version":"3.1","score":8.3,"severity":"HIGH","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H"},"cwe":["CWE-122","CWE-787"],"affected":["broadcom/brcmfmac driver","linux/linux kernel"],"epss":{"score":0.03853,"percentile":0.90072,"date":"2026-10-26","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"high","text":"High impact if exploited, but EPSS currently rates exploitation as unlikely (3.85%).
