The vulnerability is due to insufficient frame validation of the 802.11 association request. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malformed 802.11 association request to the targeted device. An exploit could allow the attacker to cause the AP to reload, resulting in a DoS condition while the AP is reloading. This vulnerability affects the following Cisco products running either the Lightweight AP Software or Mobility Express image: Aironet 1560 Series Access Points, Aironet 2800 Series Access Points, Aironet 3800 Series Access Points. Note: The Cisco Aironet 1560 Series Access Point device is supported as of release 8.3.112.0. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCve12189.","published":"2017-11-02T16:29:00.000Z","lastModified":"2026-06-17T01:03:01.000Z","status":"Modified","sourceIdentifier":"psirt@cisco.com","cvss":{"version":"3.0","score":6.5,"severity":"MEDIUM","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"},"cwe":["CWE-20"],"affected":["cisco/aironet 1562 firmware","cisco/aironet 2800 firmware","cisco/aironet 3800 firmware"],"epss":{"score":0.0087,"percentile":0.58615,"date":"2026-10-27","history":[]},"kev":{"listed":false},"exploits":{"count":0,"verified":false,"firstPublished":null,"source":"Exploit-DB (https://gitlab.com/exploit-database/exploitdb)","entries":[]},"verdict":{"level":"low","text":"Lower severity and a low EPSS score (0.87%).
